How to Lock the Android Screen
Set Auto Screen Lock (Screen Timeout)
Android devices can be set to automatically turn off the screen after a period of inactivity. This feature helps save battery and improves security.
📱 Steps

Open the Settings app.

Go to Display (or Device tab on some models).

Tap Sleep, Screen timeout, or Screen off time.

Choose how long the screen stays on without activity.
⏱️ Common options:
15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes
💡 Notes:

Shorter times (15–30 sec) save more battery but may be annoying.

Longer times (5–10 min) use more battery.

This setting controls only screen timeout. Lock delay is managed separately in security settings.
Set Pattern / PIN / Password Lock
This protects your phone from unauthorized access.
🔐 Steps

Go to Settings > Security or Biometrics & Security.

Tap Screen lock (or Device security, Lock screen).

Choose one:
🔸 Pattern: draw on a 3×3 dot grid.
🔸 PIN: 4–16 digit code.
🔸 Password: use letters, numbers, symbols.
Additional options: fingerprint, face recognition, iris scan.
